Chrysler is set to be the first automaker to offer in-car wireless internet access. Debuting in 2009, the device will be a $499 option and cost $29/month. It connects to existing EV-DO cell phone networks and is compatible with the upcoming WiMax networks.
The device then rebroadcasts the connection over standard 802.11 wi-fi, essentially turning your car into a hot-spot. Add a coffee pot and you have a mobile Starbucks.
Now we can add "playing Call of Duty 4" to the number of distractions faced by drivers.
