PRU/MARFU News Roundup

Alexandria Rugby Touch Sevens Tournament
Those wishing to enter into this touch rugby tournament on Feb 28th now have an extended registration until Feb 1st. The cost is $100 per team ($l5 bucks per person for a team of seven). Proceeds benefit Alexandria youth rugby program.

We're currently exploring the feasibility of entering a side in this tournament, and if it will conflict with our pre-season practice schedule. We'll let you know if we will enter a side.

Level 1 Referee Course
Every club should have at least one member certified as a referee to cover situations where a PSRFR-assigned referee is not available.

The L1 (Saturday only) and L2 (Saturday and Sunday) referee course will be held January 31st and February 1st, venue to be announced. It is an all day commitment (roughly 8 am until 4 pm) for each day of the course.

Show your commitment to the sport of rugby by becoming a referee!

Rugby in the Olympics
The International Rugby Board (IRB) is providing a lot of information to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on why Rugby should be reintroduced to The Olympic games. Rugby was last featured in the Olympics in 1924, and its ready for a comeback!

The IOC is asking the general public all around the world for feedback as
it progresses its plans for the future of The Olympic Games. The IRB
feels these plans should include Rugby.

The deadline for feedback to the IOC's Virtual Olympic Congress is February 28th. 2009. The specific website is www.2009congress.olympic.org
