Here is an extremely fun (and free) flash game whereby you take the role of an infectious pathogen (Virus, Bacteria, or Parasite) then design and evolve it to try to rid the world of people. The depth of the game makes it an engrossing strategy experience. Hint: make your disease seem minor at first to prevent airports and mass transit from being shut down too early. Then evolve it to be more lethal when it's present in all continents. Governments will eventually try to develop a vaccine and initiate public health measures to stop your bug from wiping out civilization.

If eradicating mankind with disease isn't your thing, use nukes! Read More for one of my favorite strategy games, based on the 1980's movie Wargames. Its called DEFCON: Everybody Dies.
Place your radar, airbases, missile silos, and ships (battleships, carriers, and nuke subs) and wait for the clock to count down to DEFCON1. You get two points for every million of the enemy you kill, and lose a point for every million of your own population killed. DEFCON: Everybody Dies
