Practice this Saturday - 10:30 AM

We are practicing Saturday at 10:30 AM at Gravelly. I know it's going to be cold, but I don't care. Show up, run around, play rugby, and then go to Rocklands to have BBQ and PBR. We are getting ready for MARFU. Who knows, it could be cold in April, Global Weirding can wreak havoc.

7s Practice and 1st Tournament of the Year

Sirs,

West Potomac sincerely apologizes for the bombardment of e-mails in the past few minutes.

For those interested there will be 7s practice tonight at Gravelley Park from 6:30 to Dark. If you have a rugby ball please bring it along.

On Saturday, June 13th West Potomac will be entering the Social Division of Washington’s Pick 7s tournament. We won the Cup or Plate or something last year at this tournament so plan on making it out to defend whatever it is we won. Scott Alexandar, mscottalexander (at) gmail (dot) com, will be organizing for West Pot. The cost will be about $20 per player, less if more people show up.

Scrimmage tonight at 7 pm at Benning-Stoddert - All are Welcome

Hello,

We are having practice this evening at 7 pm at Benning-Stoddert. At about 7:33 pm we will commence with a full intra-squad scrimmage. Please plan on attending as Pablo of the PRU Ref Society will be joining us to referee the scrimmage. I would like us to treat this as we did the scrimmage to start the year, which means take it seriously and use it as an opportunity to work our game plan in a full speed environment.

On Saturday we are playing Warrenton at Warrenton with a 1 pm kick-off and a b-side to follow. Sunshine will be sending out directions to the pitch and carpool information.

Cheers,

Bible

June 21st: Rocky Gorge Sevens - Columbia, MD
June 28th: PAC Sevens - Bowie, MD
July 12th: Cheesesteak Sevens - Philly

We have some good competition and a title to defend this summer. I'll see you tonight 6:30 @ Gravelly.

PBR Me ASAP - Retail Outlets in DC?

Now that the Spring season is over and I'm starting my sabbatical from playing rugby, I figure the best thing I can do to support the team is to drink as much Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR) as possible. I usually drink PBR when I'm at Hamilton's or Jimmy Valentine's, but sometimes I'd like to enjoy a nice cold PBR while I'm at home chilling out.

The problem is that I haven't been able to find any retail outlets that sell PBR on the Hill. I've checked at Schneider's, Hayden's (down by Eastern Market), and just about every damn bodega on the Hill and have come up empty. I called Premium Distributors to find out who carries PBR in the District and all the places they listed were in NW DC. Now I want to support our sponsor, but I'm not driving all the way across town just to buy a case (or 4) of beer.

PBR has been pretty good to us; through their sponsorship we were finally able to get a kit that doesn't look like it was designed by Hellen Keller and Hamilton's has been kind enough to have a running special of $1 PBRs on Friday nights all season long. Since we have a fairly significant concentration of West Pot players on the Hill (me, the Skip, Pete the Rock, Sneaky Pete, and a few others) I'm thinking that we need to decide on a liquor store or beer seller that we can ask en masse to start carrying PBR.

Leave your suggestions in the comments section.

With You,

KJ
